With the usual flashy fanfare, the 2022/2023 Premier League season kicked off this past weekend with Crystal Palace hosting Arsenal and losing 2-0 in the season opener. You may be wondering why the new season started a week earlier than usual; this is due to accommodate the kickoff of the FIFA World Cup™ later this year.
Here are a few things to note for the new Premier League season, if you’ll be watching LIVE in the UK, or at home on your couch.
FIFA World Cup Break
Since Qatar 2022 kicks off in November and runs through into December, the Premier League will have an extended winter break from 13 November to 26 December. Have you booked your FIFA World Cup™ Official Hospitality yet?
Promoted Teams
Fulham, Bournemouth, and Nottingham Forest have all been promoted this season; sure to provide an extra boost to the games. Nottingham Forest is back for the first time in 23 years since they were relegated in the 1998/99 season.
Extra Substitutions
During the 2022/2023 Premier League Season, teams will be able to make up to five substitutions in every game, which is an increase from three previously allowed. The bench includes nine players from which to choose the five subs.
