Destinations

Cape Town

From the busy waterfront to the mountains, forests, beaches and vineyards, Cape Town’s bounty of things to see and do can be overwhelming, even for the most seasoned travellers. Start with a visit to the V&A Waterfront, the most visited tourist attraction in South Africa featuring world-class shopping, excellent dining and entertaining nightlife. Take a stroll along the Sea Point Promenade to the Green Point Urban Park, which showcases some spectacular public artworks. Alternatively, tackle one of Cape Town’s many hiking trails - Newlands Forest offers a leisurely wander while Lion’s Head poses more of a challenge. As far as mountains go, no trip to Cape Town would be complete without riding the cable car to the top of Table Mountain to soak up the views from one of the New 7th Wonders of the World. Depending on your timeframe, explore the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, go pub-hopping down Long Street or go wine tasting in the Winelands (or, closer to the city, the Constantia Wine Route).

Doha

Qatar is fast becoming one of the most popular destinations in the Middle East, with the futuristic city of Doha appealing to many second and third time visitors to the greater Persian Gulf region. Bordering Saudi Arabia to the south, its closest neighbour is the tiny country of Bahrain which is comprised of 30 little islands in the Gulf. Qatar is now recognised as one of the biggest art buying countries in the world, with the Arab Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Islamic Art both based in Doha. Other cultural highlights of significance include the Msheireb Enrichment Centre, situated on the Doha Corniche, the Katara Cultural Village and the Pearl-Qatar Marina. Doha is also well known for its markets such as the Souq Waqif, which has been cleverly developed to look like a traditional 19th-century souq, complete with expertly restored Qatari buildings. A must-visit is the Falcon Souq, a traditional arcade just off the Souq Waqif and filled with leather-hooded Falcons waiting to be taken home by eager buyers.

Edinburgh

Situated within the scenic heart of Scotland, Edinburgh emerges not merely as a city but as a vibrant tapestry of history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes. This revered capital is a treasure trove for travellers, boasting an array of noteworthy highlights that promise an unforgettable experience. From the historic allure of the Edinburgh Castle, perched majestically atop an ancient volcano, to the atmospheric cobbled streets of the Royal Mile, each step within this city tells a story of its rich past. Not to be missed are the panoramic views from Arthur's Seat, offering a tranquil escape with vistas that stretch over the city to the Firth of Forth. In August, the city transforms into a bustling hub of creativity during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the world's largest arts festival. Whether it's exploring the mysterious beauty of the Old Town or savouring the modern vibrancy of the New Town, Edinburgh seamlessly blends the ancient with the contemporary, making it a must-visit destination for any traveller.
