MotoGP Catalunya Tickets & Packages 2024

26 May 2024

Vibrant Barcelona is the setting for the  MotoGP Catalunya, which takes place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Built in 1991, the circuit's construction coincided with the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. In fact, the track was used for the road team time trial cycling event. The MotoGP has been held here since 1992, in addition to a number of high-profile racing events, including the FIA World Rallycross Championship.

The track itself is 4.7 kilometres in length with its longest straight measuring at 1047 metres. While Formula One and MotoGP share this track equally, there is a slight variance in layout to maximise safety for the riders. The 2009 event will long be remembered for the competition between veteran Valentino Rossi and his teammate Jorge Lorenzo, with Rossi gaining the upper hand over Jorge on the final corner.

Testimonials

This is a fanatic event to attend. Don't be afraid to use the underground & bus services, its a big city. The nearest stop to the circuit is Montmelo Station. All Barcelona stations can be reached using the Barcelona metro service. From Montmelo station, the circuit entrance is approximately a 25-30 minute walk or there is a shuttle service that runs from the town hall, these can be paid on arrival. Taxis also drop-off and pick-up at the main circuit gates, try to book your pick-up in advance to avoid a long wait.

Destinations

Barcelona

Barcelona, with its Catalan language and distinct architecture, is one of Europe’s top tourist destinations. From the narrow, Gothic streets of the old town to the modern Eixample district, the city offers something for everyone. For art lovers, the Picasso Museum houses the most extensive collection in the country and one of the most notable in the world. If you are keen on architecture, the works of Antoni Gaudi and Lluis Domenech i Montaner are major draw cards. Gaudi’s unfinished church of the Sagrada Familia has been under construction since 1882 and is a must-visit. Besides the city’s myriad cultural (and foodie) attractions, Barcelona’s beaches are sandy and welcoming. A short trip down to the coast between the Llobregat and Besos river mouths is the little town of Sitges, where you can enjoy a typical Spanish beachfront experience.
